Can You Eat Carbs and Still Lose Weight?
·
Yes, carbohydrate-containing foods can fit a weight-loss eating pattern. The practical question is the whole day’s energy intake, portions and consistency, not whether a meal contains bread, rice or fruit.
A practical example
| Check | How to apply it |
|---|---|
| Portion | Use the actual amount eaten |
| Entry | Match cooked or dry state |
| Meal total | Include fats, sauces and drinks |
Build the portion into the meal
If an example lunch includes 150 g cooked rice, use a cooked-rice entry and count the sauce, oil and other components. Dry rice has a different weight basis; choosing the wrong entry can distort the result.
Removing carbohydrate can change scale weight for reasons beyond body fat, so a short-term drop is not a fair comparison of two diets.
Make the routine sustainable
Choose carbohydrate foods and portions that fit your appetite, activity and preferences. A photo log in BiteCal can make recording a mixed plate easier, but review the rice amount and cooking additions before saving. Adjust using a longer trend rather than banning a food after one weigh-in.
