Intermittent Fasting Macros: Plan the Day, Then the Window
·
An eating window changes when you eat, while macros describe what you eat. Set a realistic daily intake and protein plan before dividing them between the meals in your chosen window. Fasting does not remove calories from food.
A practical example
| Check | How to apply it |
|---|---|
| Two meals | 100 g protein ÷ 2 = 50 g per meal |
| Three meals | 100 g ÷ 3 ≈ 33 g per meal |
| Logging rule | Include caloric drinks and sauces |
Fit the schedule to complete meals
If an example day contains 100 g protein across two meals, each meal averages 50 g. Across three meals, it averages about 33 g. Neither schedule is automatically better; choose portions and meal times you can manage.
Avoid making the window so short that meals become uncomfortable or training recovery suffers.
Track drinks and additions inside the same day
Milk in coffee, shakes and evening snacks still contribute to intake. Use the same daily boundary consistently when looking at a trend. People with glucose-lowering medication or medical fasting requirements should get individualized instructions rather than using a general fasting article.
