Not Gaining Muscle? Review Training and Food Together
·
If muscle gain is not progressing, examine training progression, recovery, protein and total intake together. A calorie app can help document eating patterns, but it cannot diagnose a training plateau or promise muscle growth.
A practical example
| Check | How to apply it |
|---|---|
| Training | Check progression across comparable sessions |
| Recovery | Review the routine that supports training |
| Nutrition | Check protein and actual intake coverage |
Create a record you can actually compare
Track exercises, loads and repetitions alongside a consistent body-weight trend. Check whether your food log covers all days rather than just organized weekdays. If intake is an estimate, identify whether the same meals and portions repeat.
A 70 kg person using a 1.6 g/kg protein planning factor would aim at an example 112 g/day. Hitting that number alone does not compensate for an unsuitable training program.
Change one actionable variable
If meal logging is the weak link, try BiteCal’s photo-first workflow before adding more spreadsheet complexity. If training has not progressed, review the program. Avoid increasing calories sharply based only on one flat weigh-in.
