Protein on a Carnivore Diet: Calculate Without Assuming Adequacy

·

An animal-food-only pattern does not determine your protein requirement by itself. Protein grams depend on body size, activity and individual circumstances; a high protein total also does not establish that the overall diet is nutritionally adequate.

A practical example

CheckHow to apply it
Weight of foodDifferent from grams of protein
PreparationMatch raw with raw or cooked with cooked
Overall dietProtein alone does not establish adequacy

Separate food weight from protein weight

A 200 g serving of meat is not 200 g protein. Use a matching cooked or raw entry and read protein grams for that exact portion. An exercise planning example of 70 kg × 1.6 g/kg produces 112 g protein per day, regardless of the diet’s label.

Cuts differ in fat and energy, so matching only protein can produce very different calorie totals.

Check what a restrictive pattern leaves out

Macro totals do not verify fibre, micronutrients or long-term suitability. Do not treat this calculation as an endorsement of eliminating food groups. If you are considering a restrictive diet for symptoms or a medical condition, individual dietary advice matters more than copying a ratio.
